I think I may have accidentally stumbled upon a new photo project for the new year …
Yesterday, I loaded my Olympus OM-1n with a fresh roll of film and went downtown. I decided I was going to shoot until I ran out of film, and I wouldn’t let myself come home before that. I think because I’ve been shooting so many Polaroids, I’ve gotten used to unnecessarily limiting the number of photos I take, and I’d rather shoot with abandon in 2011.
Even though a lot of the shots are sort of mundane, I was surprisingly thrilled when I got my photos back from the one-hour lab in my neighborhood. Which made me think, what if I commit to shooting a roll of film every week for the next year? It wouldn’t be hard to do, and if I plan my shooting and development for the weekend, it will work perfectly with The Saturdays of 2011 project.
Hooray for new photography challenges! Especially those that keep film development labs up and running. Anyone else planning fun photography projects for 2011?
